Recycled Content
Corle Building Systems uses recycled materials in the manufacturing process. Recyclng reduces costs, while conserving energy and natural resources.
In the construction industry, recent interest in recycling has been driven largely by the US Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design (LEED®) rating system. The LEED rating system only promotes the use of materials with high levels of recycled content.
At the end of their useful life, about 88% of all steel products and nearly 100% of structural steel beams and plates used in construction
are recycled into new products — an amazing reclamation rate!
Structural Systems & Components: Steel Joists
Cold-rolled steel framing typically contains 20-25% recycled material (10-15% post-consumer content), though some manufacturers have in excess of
90% recycled content. Steel framing is also recyclable at the end of the building's useful life.
"COOL ROOFS"
In general, a "cool roof" is one that has relatively high solar reflectance and high thermal emittance. Corle CoolColor (TM) roof panels are
manufactured with reflective Kynar 70% paint. Durable Kynar on Corle CoolColor (TM) panels provides reflectance and emissivity to meet ENERGY STAR® requirements.
Corle CoolColor (TM) panels provide the benefits of lower energy costs, increased
roof life expectancies, superior roof color choices, and a cooler, cleaner, "Greener" environment for all of us.
The Ecological Benefits of Metal Roofing Metal Roofing merits inclusion in the list of "evironmentally friendly" or "green" roofing materials.

SUSTAINABILIY
Metal roofing's durability can virtually eliminate the need to use future raw materials to produce roofing. Other roofing materials can
break down due to changing weather cycles. Metal roofing is not affected such cycles. Metal is the material of choice for sustainability.
RECYCLED CONTENT
Most metal roofs have recycled content ranging from 25% to 95%. Conventional roofing shigles have much shorter lives and use oil-based
products as their primary raw material. Some state and local entities include metal roofing on their list of "green" and recycled content products.
RECYCLABILITY
Metal roofing is 100% recycleable. Conventional roofing products are disposed of by the ton in landfillsacross the country.
LOW WEIGHT
Depending on the product, metal roofing has a weight that is from 1/3 to 1/8 the weight of conventional shingles or slate roofing.
In many instances, metal roofing can be installed over conventional roofs, eliminating the need to remove the old roof and eliminating the
need to dump the old materials into landfills.
PRODUCT SAFETY
Metal roofing and the finishes used on it, are inert, safe materials that do not pose a health risk. Metal roofing in noncombustible.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Many available metal roofs are being documented to meet Energy Star requirements. Meeting solar reflectance and thermal emittance standards can have a
tremendous impact on energy usage by reducing air conditioning needs, thereby reducing the pollution created by the production of the energy used.
Metal roofing dissipates heat very quickly. Other materials have greater thermal mass and will continue to radiate captured heat into the structures
beneath them, even when the sun is not shining.
Metal roofing's many benefits, including sustainability, recycled content, recyclability, low weight, and energy efficiency, far outweigh virtually
all other roof systems from an ecological standpoint. (Source: Metal Construction Association)
INSULATION
Indoor air quality is a growing concern with today’s tighter construction practices for buildings. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency,
most people spend about 90% of the time indoors where “thousands of chemicals and biological pollutants are found”, thus negatively affecting their health.
That is why Corle Building Systems offers Bay Industries Insulation
to our customers. Bay Industries has made a point to achieve the highest possible product certification - "Greenguard Certification™". Greenguard Certified Products
can reduce indoor air contaminants and promote a better indoor environment.
WHAT IS THE GREENGUARD CERTIFICATION PROGRAM?
The Greenguard Certification Program was founded in 1999 to establish a true third party certification based on proven emissions criteria used by U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency, the state of Washington, the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED program, OSHA and the World Health Organization.
Greenguard Certified Products must pass rigorous emissions testing for certification. Critical components (such as volatile organic compounds,
formaldehyde and other product specific components) are monitored quarterly. Fiberglass loose fill and batt insulation
products from Bay Industries meet the Greenguard Certification Program’s establishment emission standards.
